Jessica - a Staffordshire Greyhound

£95.00

This painting depicts a Staffordshire pottery greyhound — a recurring theme in my work that also appears on my hand-painted lampshades. Staffordshire pottery figures, first created in the 18th century, have long fascinated me. Originally affordable ornaments for modest homes, these charming pieces have since become highly sought after by collectors and interior designers alike.

For me, these figures are more than decorative objects — they are symbols of a bygone era, evoking warmth, tradition, and the quiet beauty of domestic life. In this painting, I’ve tried to capture that sense of nostalgia, using rich colours and bold patterns to breathe new life into an object that once sat proudly on Victorian mantelpieces.

I hope this piece stirs memories of simpler times — when home was a place of comfort, storytelling, and cherished treasures.
