Goose - an Imagined Jug

This is not a traditional still life — this jug exists only in my imagination. The idea of an imagined jug is a recurring theme in my work, allowing me to transform a simple, functional object into something beautiful and meaningful.

As a mother of three daughters, the idea of home — as a place of stability and calm — has always been deeply important to me. Life has taken us through many house moves, yet I've learned that true comfort comes not from the walls around us, but from the familiar objects that make a space feel like home. In my paintings, I celebrate these humble domestic treasures — vessels that quietly serve yet hold the power to evoke warmth, memory, and belonging.

Through bold patterns and rich colour combinations, I hope my work sparks a sense of nostalgia — a reminder of a slower, simpler way of living, where everyday moments feel cherished and timeless.

This painting depicts an imagined jug featuring a motif of a goose that I saw on an 18th century christening mug.

An original painting in acrylic paint on heavyweight paper with a hand painted mount. The mount measures 21.0cm x 29.7cm, which is A4 sized and will fit into a ready made A4 sized frame.

NB Frame in first picture shown for decorative purposes only and is not included in the sale.
