Foxgloves - a pair of hand painted fabric shades, 19cm base
A pair of original, hand painted lampshades with my own design. Each lampshade is a one-off. The background colour is Farrow and Ball's "Setting Plaster" which is described as a muted and chalky dusky pink - a neutral yet atmospheric colour. This pair of lampshades features an original design made up of alternating stripes of pattern inspired by the beautiful Foxgloves that grow in English country gardens in the summertime.
I am inspired generally by the Arts and Crafts movement founded by William Morris as well as the Bloomsbury Group artists and the home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant at Charleston in Firle, Sussex which I have visited many times.
Please be aware that due to the hand painted nature of the lampshade, that when the light is switched on, the shade will have a "mottled" appearance due to the different amounts of paint on the lampshade. In my opinion, this adds to the beauty of a hand crafted piece. The images include one to show the light switched on.
