Original, hand painted lampshade with my own design. Each lampshade is a one-off. The background colour is Farrow and Ball's "Cromarty" which is described as a muted green grey - a neutral yet atmospheric colour and I couldn't t agree more. The lampshade features a motif of a large mollusc shell with a rope surround and then a pattern of spiral shells surrounding the rest of the shells. I was inspired by a recent stay at Portmeirion in North Wales where the colours and the sea were just so beautiful.

I am inspired generally by the Arts and Crafts movement founded by William Morris as well as the Bloomsbury Group artists and the home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant at Charleston in Firle, Sussex which I have visited many times.

Please be aware that due to the hand painted nature of the lampshade, that when the light is switched on, the shade will have a "mottled" appearance due to the different amounts of paint on the lampshade. In my opinion, this adds to the beauty of a hand crafted piece.
